Fun patterns at CB2

Shopping at CB2 today, I came across this really cool wall hanging which is made from woven papers of different colors, and the border is made from woven newspapers (in Thai I think). Neat!
Also saw this pillow which I LOVE...it looks quilted but is actually printed. Love the pattern, the colors...

Purl Soho open!

Purl Soho has opened their new store on Broome St....it is SOOO beautiful. There is a big selection of delicious yarns and beautiful quilting fabrics, and a class space in the back. I stopped by on opening day and it was buzzing with people- is exciting to see that knitting and sewing have become so popular. Can't wait to start my next project- they have some really cool needlepoint patterns, which is something I've been looking for.

Pearl River Mart

I dropped into Pearl River Mart in Soho yesterday. It has always been one of my favorite inspiration spots- one never knows what one will find there.
I loved these cute feathered birds and butterflies, sold by the box. I have an antique birdcage at home, with a fake feathered bird inside (my cat Sushi loves to bat at it). The birdcage selection at Pearl River is pretty impressive, but a little pricey. Still, it would be so fun to cover one of the cages with several birds, or perch them on a chandelier.

Rowan's Room part 2

Well, thanks to my mom the window seat cushion came out looking gorgeous! She came to visit and it was a rainy weekend, so we were busy sewing. We decided to use the orange fabric for piping, which looks fantastic. The quilting on the cushion is not visible here, but I sewed random lines in the grey, orange, and green decorative threads. Just a few more pillows and the project will be complete!
