Seeing Red

I am in love with the Vitra store in the meatpacking district here in NY.  The red accents are right on trend and are a lovely way to brighten up the home- and just look at the adorable plywood elephants from their children' line- they are reproductions of a Charles & Ray Eames design from 1945.  The elephant theme seems to be everywhere (more on that later).  Last week I visited Printsource, a surface and textile show here in New York, and during the trend forecasting seminar the presenter talked about scarlet red as a continuing theme in home decor, as well as red objects for the home in curvy shapes like these lovely chairs.  The Panton chair was designed in the 60's by Danish designer Verner Panton and looks better than ever.  Red a color that energizes and warms...the perfect pick-me-up on a cold drizzly day!

How cool is this rug?

I love this rug by Lourdes Sanchez for West Elm.  Having worked with Lourdes over the years developing fabric collections for Timeless Treasures, I was excited to see her featured in the "Rugs By Artists" section of the new catalog.  Now I need to find a place in my home for one of these rugs...

Junebug

One of my favorite books for color inspiration these days is Liberty and Co. in the Fifties and Sixties.

I referenced it many times while I was working on my Junebug fabric collection.  I am partial to any design from the Sixties, and for me Liberty really takes the cake.  Visiting their store in London is one of my favorite things to do...it is truly an experience that satisfies the soul!
